Fall Out Boy のPete Wentzが、この度グラフィックノベル作家になった。Peteは、作家のHannah Klein (ハンナ・クライン)とアーティストのLisa Sterle (リサ・ステール)と共同で、作品『Dying Inside』に命を吹き込んだ。この物語は、偶然にも不死身になってしまった臨床うつ病のティーンエイジャー、アッシュの物語を描いている。
しかし、これはただのグラフィック・ノベルではない。”音楽的な没入体験”と形容されるこの作品には、Peteのオリジナルの歌詞と詩が掲載されている。Pete、並びにFall Out Boyの世界観が好きなファンはこの作品を手に取ってみてはいかがだろうか。
長年のコミックファンであるPeteは、『Dying Inside』がどのようにして生まれたのか、もう少し詳しくコメントしている。「この本は、僕たちの多くが感じたことのある、あるいは経験したことのあるようなテーマに取り組んでいると思う。アンダーグラウンド・ミュージックから魔術、ダーク・ユーモアまで、あらゆるものが含まれていると思う。この本を読んで、感想を聞かせてくれることをとても楽しみにしているよ」。
Pete Wentz is officially a graphic novel author. The Fall Out Boy bassist worked with writer Hannah Klein and artist Lisa Sterle to bring Dying Inside to life. The story follows Ash, a clinically depressed teenager who accidentally turns immortal.But this isn’t just any graphic novel. Described as a “musically immersive experience,” it features original lyrics and poetry from Wentz. Plus there will be an integrated playlist and new music from Daisy Grenade. The “GUTS” duo shared that fans can grab the book’s first chapter on Free Comic Book Day, May 4.
Wentz, a long-time comic book fan, shared a little bit more about how Dying Inside came together. “I think that this book tackles themes that a lot of us have felt or feel like we’ve gone through,” he said. “I think that there’s everything from underground music to witchcraft and dark humor. And I’m really excited for you to get a chance to check it out and let me know what you think.”
