ニュージャージーのスカパンクバンド”Joker’s Republic”は、新曲「Stop Killing Our Friends」の公式ミュージックビデオを公開した。同楽曲は、バンドの最新アルバム『The Hand You’ve Been Dealt』に収録されているトラック。
「Stop Killing Our Friends」は、Fort Collinsで発生した銃撃事件に関する会話から着想を得たもので、その後より広範なテーマと緊急性を持つ内容へと発展した楽曲である。歌詞は憎悪による暴力と真正面から向き合い、バンドの高エネルギーなスカパンクサウンドと鋭いリリシズムを組み合わせた構成となっている。フロントマンでボーカル兼リードギタリストのAusten Grayは、本作を自身のアートにおいて初めてLGBTの「B」アイデンティティについて言及したものとして位置づけ、この曲が理性への訴えと憎悪に基づく暴力をやめる呼びかけを同時に表現していると説明している。
